Patsy Gallacher
"The Mighty Atom"
Patsy Gallacher (16 March 1891 - 17 June 1953) nativo del piccolo villaggio di Milford nel Donegal, dopo che la famiglia emigrò a Glasgow, giocò per la squadra della scuola, la scuola del Santo Redentore. Patsy doveva organizzare il team, e agì da segretario e capitano perché ogni insegnate della scuola era femmina e non vi era in loro interesse per lo sport. Il primo trofeo vinto fu la Yoker Athletic Schools' Tournament Cup, dove la sua squadra era data come sfavorita e ricorda che gli orgnaizzatori non volevano consegnargli il trofeo in quanto era minorenne, benchè unico rappresentante ufficiale della squadra. Dopo aver passato in altre formazioni giovanili, fu a Clydebank Juniors che attrasse l’interesse degli scout delle formazioni professionistiche. Nonostante i dubbi degli scouts, ricevette offerte dal Clyde e dal Celtic. Nel periodo di prova per i bhoys si distinse per il suo talento e per una serie di reti in alcune amichevoli. Il Celtic lo mise sotto contratto e debuttò per i bhoys a celtic park contro il st. mirren nel novembre 1911. a fine campionato il celtic vinse la scottish cup con un 2-0 sul CLyde. Giocò ininterrottamente per il celtic fino al 1926, collezionando 569 presenze e 192 goals. Oggi è il sesto cannoniere di tutti i tempi del celtic dietro a jimmy McGrory, Lennox, Larsson, Chalmers e Jimmy Quinn. Un gol memorabile lo segnò nella finale di coppa di Scozia del 1925 contro il Dundee quando avanti alla porta, superò una mischia andando in porta con la palla fra i piedi. È riconosciuto che con la sua tecnica e velocità rivitalizzò la squadra al suo debutto , che languiva al quinto posto della classifica. Con il Celtic il suo palmares fu di 7 titoli, 4 scottish cup, 4 Glasgow cup, e 11 Glasgow Charity Cups. Lasciò il Celtic nel 1926, giocando ancora 6 anni per il Falkirk.
